CCR Groundwater Monitoring Flow Chart
Below is a flowchart outlining groundwater monitoring procedures for all CCR landfills and surface impoundments. The first step of the chart (in black) differs between new and existing CCR units. For CCR units existing at the time of CCR Rule implementation (October 17, 2015), at least eight (8) independent samples must be collected from each background and downgradient well and analyzed for all Appendices III and IV constituents by October 17, 2017. For new CCR units and lateral expansions of existing CCR units, at least eight (8) samples must be collected only from each background well and analyzed for Appendices III and IV constituents during the first six (6) months of sampling.
